The other day I wrote about the fantastic trail I can reach on foot from my apartment, saying I’d never tire of it. That’s true, but I remembered the value of variety today.
I hiked a trail that was completely new to me. I ventured there first with Lulu, but realized quickly that it would not be safe for a toddler. I turned back, and left my daughter home with dad. I returned alone and marveled at the beauty. Even better, I was able to take my mind off the virus from time to time. Not knowing what might be just around the corner, or where to step for a sure footing, I was forced to pay close attention to my present moment experience. It was a challenging and narrow trail along steep terrain, and simple misstep could have spelled serious disaster.
